The angry woman identified as Magdalene Chamunorwa, disrupted her husband’s wedding to his new bride, Fransisca Kanyama, at the Harare magistrate’s court in Zimbabwe.
Magdalene who reportedly arrived just in time before the exchange of vows, had attacked her husband’s lover, causing the wedding to be put on hold indefinitely. The drama was witnessed by friends and wellwishers as well as others who had reason to be at the court on the same day. The wedding was suspended because Magdalene maintained she was still legally married to her husband Gift Singano.
An angry Magdalene had this to say: “This is my husband and he married me in 1992 at Chimutowa in Chiendambuya. We have four children and our marriage is still subsistence. We are not divorced. I only discovered that he wanted to marry a girlfriend when I saw a profile picture of his girlfriend on his phone. I stay with him but he leaves me in the house where we live and goes to stay with his girlfriend in Mufakose. We stay in Crowborough.” Meanwhile Singano insisted that they were divorced and had been living apart since 2011. Here’s what he said: “I married Magdalene but I cannot remember when. I have four children. I am no longer staying with her. We divorced in 2011 because she was violent to me.” The presiding magistrate Tendai Mahwe, cancelled the wedding due to evidence that Singano had an unregistered customary marriage with Magdalene in 1992. He maintained remained legal, as Magdalene never received a divorce token from Singano.
